Hey all my lovelies, welcome to the very first post on Book Bitches 4 Life. Where we come together and do book reviews of books, but the twist is we do one after every chapter. I am pretty sure we all have read books where we just stop and scream at the page and never look back. We just toss the book aside and find another one because the book just made us so angry. Well, I am here to review your favorite book and give a breakdown and rating after every chapter. The first book we are going to begin with is The Book of Azrael by Amber V. Nicole. Now I will be documenting all of my experience while reading the book. I am reading this one for the first time so go easy on me. This is the first book in the Gods & Monsters series so we will get to experience it together.
Let's first talk about the big eye catching first page. Now on the first page of chapter one the author really starts to draw you in. Having a form of dialogue really shows you the way a character is going to be right from the start. I was hooked right when I read the first line. That is what draws all of us lovely book readers in, am I right? Now if you want a book with badass women who get what they want by kicking ass. Dianna is the girl for you. This girl showed a lot of her colors right in the first chapter. Starting off with her torturing a guy for information and (SPOILER!!!) she wasn't always immortal. She was a mortal girl with a mortal heart before she gave it all up. It isn't the same as the Disney Movie, Hercules, the girl Meg kind of gives the same vibes as Dianna in a way but so far Dianna isn't all about a guy and giving up her soul. Dianna is the kind of girl to give up her mortality for the right cause. Or so we think is the right cause. There is still so much to find out about her. Chapter one does give us a huge insight into at least one of the main characters and their motives.
It is so hard nowadays to find a great book where you can get plenty of information in just the first chapter. The first chapter is what needs to hook a reader into a book or series, and The Book of Azrael does that in just a few pages. This is definitely a book I am excited to report on after each chapter that is for sure. To give it a rating overall I would give it a 5/5.
Characters: 4/5
Plot: 3.5/5 (still need some further information to change this rating in the future)
Setting: 5/5 (Different but still intriguing)
Badass women: 8/5 (Because who doesn't love powerful female characters that know how to kick ass. #Feminist)
Until next time my book bitches,
Love your new favorite blogger and book bitch
